Observations from the Intermountain West

Recently, I've been traveling extensively throughout the intermountain west, from St. George up to British Columbia, down to Steamboat Springs, CO, and back to St. George. One noticeable trend this year has been the lack of snowfall across the mountain regions. However, this week has brought a change in that pattern.

Storm Impact on the Region

A massive storm rolled through the west, dropping much-needed moisture across the region. This provided some unique scenery and the opportunity to explore our local canyons with just a light dusting of fresh snow. Snow Canyon State Park is a great local resource offering shorter canyoneering really close to the heart of St George.

Scenic Contrasts

The contrast of the snow, red rock, and vegetation is truly a sight to behold. It's a rare occurrence to time these conditions just right, but we hit it perfectly the other day.

It was a fantastic day out with friends in conditions that just took our breath away at every turn.
